Dual cell or Twin cell box culverts add a vertical wall to the center of the culvert. This increases the maximum span and load rating of the culvert. The increased span also allows for larger flow rates.

Dual Cell Precast Box Culverts are ideal for situations where site conditions demand wide, shallow conduits to handle required flows, as well as:

  • Installations where round concrete pipe cannot provide adequate flow capacity
  • As a faster and stronger substitute for cast-in-place box culverts, long-span metal arches, or multibarrel circular culverts

Dual Cell Precast Box Culverts can be used for the following:

  • Highway culverts
  • Short-span highway bridges
  • Storm drains
  • Extension of existing box culverts
  • Utility tunnels
  • Groundwater recharge systems
  • To replace existing open channels or ditches, enabling land to be used productively
  • Jacked or tunneled installations
  • Railroad culverts
  • Placed side by side to create twice the flow

Dual Cell Precast Box Culverts are available in a variety of spans and rises.

A variety of natural form liners, stone retention baffles, skewed or plumed ends, headwalls or curbwalls, wingwalls, even cast in wildlife crossing are available.
